Scouts Air Activities Venturer & Queen's Scout Awards' Pursuits or Outdoor Challenge
SAAV's Venturer & Queen's Scout Awards' Pursuits or Outdoor Challenge aviation program is structured to meet the 10 hour requirement of the Venturer Award or the 20 hour requirement of the Queen's Scout Award.
The program is in three parts:
- Basic Aeronautical Knowledge including principles of flight, weather and navigation
- Plan a Cross Country Flight
- Advanced Introductory Flight
Venturer Awards' Aeronautical Theory Days
The Venturer Aeronautical Theory Day is designed for individual or a small groups of Venturers seeking to use aviation for their Venturer or Queen's Scout Awards Pursuit or Outdoor Challenge. The day will cover the basic aeronautical knowledge, principles of flight, weather, navigation and basic flight planning. At the end of the day participants will be give a pack of material to assist them complete an individual flight planning exercise, 'plan a hike in the sky'. Together these will ultimately lead to a separate flying activity day which could be a solo or share training flight.

Learn to Fly & Venturer Awards' Information Days
From time to time Scout Air Activities Victoria (SAAV) receives requests from Scout and Guide members with an interest in aviation as a career, a hobby, or a means of personal travel. In recent years there has also been interest from individual Venturers and some Venturer Units in utilising aviation to meet the requirements of the Pursuits and Outdoor Challenge requirements of the Venturer Award.
SAAV is hosting a Learn to Fly & Venturer Award Information session at Moorabbin Flying Services on Sunday, 26 February 2017 starting at 9:00am. We will focus on the requirements for pilot training and licencing including an outline of various training options and indicative costs as well as an opportunity to speak to some of our commercially qualified pilots and close-up inspection of typical training aircraft.

Scouts NSW Air Activities Centre conducts Air Venture Flying Camps

Scouts NSW Air Activities Centre conducts Air Venture Flying Camps over six days during the April and September school holidays each year from their base at Camden (about 60km from Sydney Airport). Each camp is limited to 10 participants and will cost $2,400 including meals, briefings and ground school lessons, 10 hours flying (subject to weather), and a pilot's Log Book but does not included transport to Camden.
In 2016 camps are scheduled for Sunday 10, April to Friday, 15 April and Sunday, 25 September to Friday, 30 September. For further information contact email@example.com
