Caving - Badges And Awards
Badges And Awards
Scout Caving Badge
This badge can be earned by members of the Scout Section on successful completion of the badge requirements. Pre-trip work must be completed prior to the caving weekend; this is looked after by the Scout leaders.
We present a certificate to the Scouts at the conclusion of the weekend.
A weekend of caving could qualify for Venturer Level Outdoors. This needs to be discussed with the Trip Leader, and done through your usual Unit & D/ZVC system, prior to activity.
More trips would be needed for the QS level or Endeavour Award. Venturers interested in undertaking training as Assistant Cavers could earn use that for these Awards, too. To do so however, you need to discuss it with BLAA Caving, Tony Watson, by email or on 9704 7750.
There are a few ways caving could be used for a part of your BP. Because it will take more than one weekend, start by speaking to the BLAA Caving, Tony Watson (see above for contact details).
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Whether it is your Bronze, Silver or Gold, or the Compass, Challenge or Bridge Awards, again there are a few ways caving could be used for a part of your Award work. Speak to the BLAA Caving, Tony Watson (see above for contact details).
