Caving - Training

Training

Firstly, come on a weekend or one day trip with us to see how we operate with groups underground. We run specialised training courses throughout the year, usually in conjunction with a regular trip.

Contact Tony Watson, BLAA Caving, to discuss your interest by email or on 9704 7750. No previous experience is required, but any prior experience or qualifications in Caving or other related activity may be recognised as RPL for your training program.

Many of our Caving Leaders are primarily Section Leaders (Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, GLs, etc.) who  have taken up caving as an extra Scouting adventure and qualification. These members are required to attend a minimum of three activities per year after initial training in order to maintain and further develop their caving skills.

For Leaders who join our Team as their primary role in Scouting, we provide training to Advanced level (Activity Leader - Caving). These members will attend most of our trips and activities.

All of our Scout Leadership and Activity training is Nationally accredited and is also recognised by the Australian Speleological Federation and major Caving Clubs and Associations.

GIVE US A CALL! It is another interesting and very rewarding leadership role in Scouting.
