This Environment camp is for Scouts at Explorer and Adventurer Level

wanting to achieve the World Scout Environment Badge (WSEB)

The WSEB is equivalent to the Adventurer Level Environment Target Badge

Camps activities support all of Part A of the world Scout Environment Program (WSEP).

Also the camp's activities capture observations made which assist Gilwell Park to manage its environment and are fed into the Water Watch’s National database.

PLEASE NOTE – These camps are aimed at Patrols undertaking environment activities and giving Scouts at the Explorer and Adventurer level the opportunity to complete all requirements of the World Scout Environment Badge, which is the equivalent to the Adventurer Environment badge.

Prior to Camp: Correspondence will be sent to Scout Leaders of Patrols attending at least a month prior to the camp.   The correspondence will provide more detail about the camp, and include an "Environment Camp Booklet", "Research Projects" for Scouts to undertake (and bring with them to camp for sign off).  Involvement in local environment or other environmental activities is also part of the requirements for the WSEB.

Camp Activities: Learning Activities on the camp cover soils, water quality, pond life and survey of a bush area, using Water Watch's definitions.   Patrols will record their observations of these activities in their "Environment Camp Booklet".   Scouts who participate in all activities on camp, present their research activities and participate in environment activities (prior to camp) will earn and be presented with the World Scout Environment badge at the Camp's final parade.

What to Bring: Patrols will need items listed in the letter sent to their Scout Leader, "Research Projects", "Environment Camp Booklet", plus their own food, pot scourers, matches and bags for their rubbish and recyclables.   Scouts need to bring their personal items, e.g. sleeping bag, clothes, long shocks, eating gear, etc, notebook, pen, or pencil and badge book.

All the necessary camping/cooking equipment will be provided, including dish washing detergent.

It would help Gilwell Park's environment if you could bring along your own firewood.

Cost: Per Scout is $26.00
