Four Wheel Driving - Training

Training

The Four Wheel Drive Unit conducts several training courses throughout the year to members of Scouts Australia.

The Four Wheel Drive Unit can also conduct driving clinics for two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicle owners who travel in difficult conditions on Scouting activities. There is no charge for the driving clinics.

Activity Leader Basic 4x4 Level 1 (Course Codes 611 and 616 (Youth))

  • Covers the skills required to drive a four-wheel drive vehicle safely to intermediate level
  • Includes assessment of competency in the four-wheel-drive components of the SRO03 National Outdoor Recreation Industry training package
  • Open to any member of the Scout Association who has access to a four-wheel-drive vehicle, including Venturers and Rovers with a Learner’s Permit
  • Cost: $130 plus accommodation ($50 for Venturers, plus accommodation)

Activity Leader Advanced 4x4 Level 2 (Course Code 612)

  • Covers advanced driving and recovery techniques
  • Includes assessment of competency in the four-wheel-drive components of the SRO03 National Outdoor Recreation Industry training package
  • Cost $130 plus accommodation ($40 for Venturers, plus accommodation)
