Power Boating

Gain confidence, experience and qualifications in operating a power boat or safety boat through accessing a skills development program offered by the State Sailing and Power Boating Team.  We can even assist you to qualify for a Victorian Boat Licence!

Power boating is a challenging and exciting skill that can be undertaken by Scouts older than 12.5 years old, by Venturers, Rovers, Leaders and other registered adult members.

We provide exposure to both theoretical and hands on skills, including on the water practical sessions.

Our skills development programs are usually held over two days, and, like all water based activities, are subject to the weather. Programs include theory sessions, as well as hands on experience on the water in a variety of conditions.

For additional competence in safety and rescue boat operating, participate in one of our two day Safety Boat Operator courses for greater understanding of assisting or rescuing sailors, canoeists, rafters, water skiers and people using a Personal Water Craft (PWC). Prerequisites for participating in a Safety Boat Operator course include:

  • Power boat Operators qualification
  • Current Victorian Boat Licence
  • 30 hours of logged power boat operation

We also accredit competent power boat and safety boat operators with the Scouts Victoria's qualifications required for the operation of a power boat or safety boat being used in a Scouting event.

Our team is very keen to assist Groups to participate in boating activities, so please contact us if you would like further information.
