The SRESU’s schedules a number of training courses each year. These are provided by our qualified Instructors and Assessors who instruct, train and assess youth members and Leaders who wish to obtain one of the amateur radio licences [Foundation, Standard and Advanced] made available by the Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) and the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) Amateur Radio Courses. SRESU can also work with the Wireless Institute of Australia to provide training to obtain the Certificate II in Public Safety (SES Operations) on request.
The SRESU is generally available, on request, to conduct training courses within the Melbourne Metropolitan area as well as in Country locations. The nominal minimum numbers required for our training courses is 6 for a course in the Metropolitan area and 10 for a Country Region. The maximum number of course participants is 15. If you feel that you could build sufficent numbers in your District or Region to run a course, please feel free to discuss with our training officer.
The SRESU requests all participants in our training courses to complete a TR1 form and forward no later than 4 Weeks prior to the course start so that Exam Papers can be ordered, and training material can be sent to the candidates.
