Rockclimbing - Lead Climber Courses
Lead Climber Courses
Lead climber courses are open to Rovers, Leader and Venturers aged over 14 and a half. It is the policy of the Branch Rock Climbing Council that all potential lead climbers must participate in two top rope activities prior to the course. This decision reflects our desire to reduce the number of participants dropping out after the first or second weekend of the course through not fully understanding what was involved in climbing.
Rock climbing is not an activity that is suitable for everyone!
The Lead Rock Climber course runs for 4 weekends with an evening session at the Branch Activity Training Centre (Mt Waverly) prior to the course. This course incorporates the Top Rope Climber course.
Climbing equipment, helmets and harnesses are supplied. All camping fees, camping gear, food and water are to be supplied by the participant. Current fees at Mt Arapiles are $6 for two nights. Staplyton camp ground fee is $5 for two nights.
