Sailing

The State Sailing Team is passionate about assisting people to experience all the fun and adventure that sailing can bring!  Gain confidence and experience in sailing through accessing a skills development program our Team, or participate in one of our try sailing or regatta activities.

Sailing is a challenging and exciting sport for all members from the Cubs section and above, as well as by Leaders and other registered adult members.

We provide exposure to both theoretical and hands on skills, including on the water practical sessions.

Our skills development programs are usually held over four days, and, like all water based activities, are subject to the weather. Programs include theory sessions, as well as hands on experience handling boats on the water in a variety of conditions.

If you want to give sailing a go, then come to one of our try sailing days, attend one of our sailing regattas, or contact the Guide and Scout Water Activities Centre in Sandringham to arrange for your Group to give water and boating activities a go.

We also accredit competent sailors with the Scouts Victoria's qualifications required for skippering sailing boats being used in a Scouting event.

Our team is very keen to assist Groups to participate in boating activities, so please contact us if you would like further information.

For more details about our try sailing, regattas, skills development and assessment programs, please contact the State Leader, David Bryar via state.sailing@vicscouts.asn.au or Tracey Swadling via gl.sailing@vicscouts.asn.au
